Frame
The outer rectangular border that holds all the rods and beads together.
Rods (Columns)
Vertical sticks on which beads slide. Each rod represents a place value (ones, tens, hundreds…).
Beam (Divider Bar)
The horizontal bar that separates heaven beads (top) from earth beads (bottom).
Heaven Bead
The single bead above the beam. When pushed DOWN to the beam it has a value of 5 .
Earth Beads
The four beads below the beam. Each bead pushed UP to the beam has a value of 1 .
Unit Point (Home Point)
A white dot on the beam marking the ones (units) rod . Gold dots mark thousands and millions — just like a real abacus.
